Snack

Today’s rehearsal was a pretty long one so after this I’ll have a snack as I’m returning home!
It’s bread you see pretty often at train station shops.

Good work today. It’s Aucifer’s live pretty soon eh.
I’m coming to see it from Thailand. I’m looking forward to it. ^w^

The broadcast is on August 17th starting at 23 PM.

Evening!
Good job with today’s long rehearsal.
Net radio with all the members… Listening to this seems like good warm-up for the live.
I’m going to the tour’s opening show.

Obon~ (explanation)

Like a flash, the students’ summer vacation is already over in two weeks~

And to wrap-up the summer, Aucifer has rushed into rehearsals.
If I had to explain the feeling at the rehearsals in just a few words
How did it go again!?” (lol)
I’m blanking out!
I can remember the songs but it’s the little details in arrangement and stuff that I’ve wholly forgotten ( ̄∀ ̄)

Seriously,
I’ve let my brain get way too congested~
If I don’t do some traffic control in there.. (sweatdrop)

But as expected, more than before, we’ve all respectively become more skilled. I think it’s going to be a much more intense live than before.

I’ll do my best today as well V(^-^)V

Finally, if you’ll allow for some shameless fanboying on my part… Atsuro responded to my tweet! Perhaps learning a bit of Japanese wasn’t all for nothing after all. Anyway, just thought I’d mention this to all of you who have twitter. Of course I can’t guarantee you a reply, but I’m sure Atsuro appreciates any messages he gets from fans. Again, if you can’t do Japanese, simple English will probably do the trick. In any case, here’s a translation of my tweet as well as Atsuro’s reply:

Me: @Daisuke_Atsuro Welcome to twitter! (lol) I’m a huge Finnish fan of you and Λucifer! It’s possible that I’m your biggest fan abroad. (lol) I’m looking forward to the reunion live☆ — 12:44 PM 2010/08/13

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s official

At Λucifer rehearsal now“, said Atsuro just now as he tweeted this picture.
Now if only I could just decipher the lyrics on that paper… dammit…
But there you have it. The rehearsals have begun! 😉

Long time no see, Shokotan!!!

I did a TV recording of Shoko Nakagawa’s new song “Flying Humanoid”.
It was for Nippon TV’s Happy Music.
Of course with my NiL guitar ☆

Also, I started using twitter yesterday with the username Daisuke_Atsuro.
I’ll talk about both work and private life. I wonder how long I’ll use it for…
Those of you interested, definitely check it out!!!

So that’s a bit of news for you right there. Atsuro has twitter! Here’s his awesome profile translated:

Name: Daisuke Kato
Present location: Tokyo

Self-introduction: I’m a guitarist and composer/arranger. I was previously also known as ATSURO in the visual kei band Λucifer. I have more than 30 guitars at home with 5 of them being just standard Stratocasters. I enjoy surrounding myself with them in my living room ☆

And here’s a selection of his tweets so far:

The Minori Chihara SUMMER CAMP 2 rehearsals are nearing their end!

This week at last, the 7th and 8th are drawing near~.
It’s the first time I’m visiting the Kawaguchiko Stellar Theater~.
Seems like you can see Mt. Fuji from there☆
I’m worried about the weather. Especially since it’s so close to the mountain…
We can play through all the songs perfectly now!
That’s a bit of a relief…

I think I’ll thoroughly enjoy this two-day festival♪

A story from a while back when we went to Okinawa to film a PV.
As we were searching for a Seven Bank which is where I always withdraw money, we found that there are no 7-Elevens in Okinawa!
Did you know that?
There were just loads of Lawsons and Famimas.
Be careful about that, everyone!

You can view Minori Chihara’s PV for “Freedom Dreamer” on YouTube, so definitely check it out.
I’m the second guy. (Note: that’s real helpful, Atsuro!)
It placed 9th on the Oricon chart. Congratulations~!
That’s pretty awesome as it it didn’t even have a tie-in with anything☆
I was let to take part in the guitar recordings, too, so be sure to listen to the CD as well!

With that, I’m off to rehearsal today, too♪

Here’s said PV featuring Atsuro. He’s the second guy. *chuckle* I assume he’ll also play in any and all TV performances of the song. For now, you can see him in the Music Japan 2010/08/01 episode.

While we’re on the subject of second guys, Yuki can be seen in the PV for Acid Black Cherry‘s upcoming single Re:birth. Here’s the CM:

By the way, there’s reason to believe that Yuki’s other band Rayflower is coming out with their yet-unnamed debut album on September 15th. All their stuff I’ve heard sounds pretty rockin’ so I personally can’t wait! Rayflower just came out with their second single two days ago and while there’s no PV to be found on YouTube yet, there are audio samples of both tracks on the single. The ever-present delicious boys’ love imagery they’re stuck on top of ought to come as a welcome bonus.

PS. Less than 20 days until the first reunion concert!

Magazine publication information!

The August vol. 71 issue of Arena 37°C SPECIAL featuring Λucifer will go on sale 6/26!!!!!
It’ll have more pages than originally planned!!!!!
It’s an article full of gratitude about a band seven years after their break-up♪
When YUKI saw the group photos, he was caught off guard and shouted:
It’s Λucifer!” (lol)
It’s a strange nostalgic sort of feeling.
Please do get a copy of it!

After we were done with shooting, the five of us went to have ramen together for the first time in seven years.
By chance, the restaurant we went into had lots of autographs of famous people on the walls.
I found Shokotan‘s there, too! (note: Atsuro plays/has played guitar in her backing band)
Even TWO BEAT? (note: old manzai comedy duo from the 70’s) How many years has it been?

Even the cheapest ramen was around ¥1,000!!! Too expensive!!!
Braised shark fin ramen was ¥2,600!!!
I took this photo on my iPhone right away.
Everyone’s hungrily slurping down their ramen and wholeheartedly agreeing it’s delicious.
As is usual with this band when eating ramen, everyone was completely silent (lol)
Incidentally, the restaurant is in Yuurakuchou, close to the Kokusai Forum where we played our final live.

Rayflower single out

Just as a quick reminder to you guys, Rayflower‘s single is now out. Still haven’t got my hands on it actually, so here’s to hoping it’ll pop up somewhere sooner rather than later. The full PV can now be found (in disappointingly shitty quality) on YouTube. The tune does sound absolutely rocking though!

One more quick bit of news: though they just barely got their first release out, looks like they’ve already set a date for their follow-up single! It’s entitled Inishie and will go on sale on August 4th. Hope it’s as good as their first!

In my foolishness I forgot to post the full line-up of the band. In case you weren’t aware, it’s:

Vocals – Takayuki Tazawa (SPIRAL MIND, ex-Waive)
Guitar – YUKI (DUSTAR-3, Λucifer)
Bass – IKUO (BULL ZEICHEN)
Keyboard & producer – Keiichi Miyako (SOPHIA)
Drums – Sakura (Lion Heads, Sons of All Pussys, ex-L’Arc~en~Ciel, ex-Zigzo)

(thanks to Neumania!)

In other news, Makoto‘s site reports that he’s planning a birthday concert/event. More info to come in June, I’ll keep you updated. Speaking of Makoto, here he is sporting his meganekko style with cool actor Tamaki Hiroshi (Nodame Cantabile, Love Shuffle)!

Finally, I’d like to talk a little about the blog. It’s been up for three months now and honestly so far I’m really happy with the amount of hits it gets. I mean, when I started out, I knew I’d be sorely disappointed if I expected any real popularity to speak of. Hell, it’s a band that’s been dead for a good seven years now! Still, even averaging ~5 visits daily (on a good day) is more than enough to make me go “wow.” Last month I even had a day with 26 visitors! What the hell! Sure, on my other blog I often have days that surpass the amount of this site’s visitors in total, but to me seeing people actually reading this blog makes me significantly happier for some peculiar reason. Especially the fact that I even have a few commenters on this site, that to me just feels surreal. I’d just like to thank everyone who comments here, links this site somewhere or even silently reads up on the latest Aucifer going-ons. I’m happy if it helps anyone keep up with them.

I’d like to ask you guys something. As readers, is there anything more you’d like from Silent Melody? Anything you’d like me to do differently? More news on related artists, or just more focused on Aucifer? More opinion pieces? More, err, eyecandy? Simply just more/less posts? Want more of anything, less of anything? Or if not, if you’d just let me know that what I’m doing now is fine as is, that’d be sweet. Comment and let me know what you think!

One thing I have been wanting to do is reviewing Aucifer’s releases one by one. Not only that, but I’d love to also gather up anyone else’s reviews on Aucifer and post them here, as I know not everyone can be bothered with setting up a blog and all that. Would there be any interest in that, or would that be just about me satisfying myself?

Finally, have some pics of Atsuro who’s rehearsing for Minori Chihara‘s live tour right now.

Rayflower, Yuki’s new band

Wow! Looking pretty emo there huh, Yuki?

As if the Aucifer news wasn’t good enough, it was also recently reported that Yuki is in a new band called Rayflower who have a double A-side single titled “Uragiri no Nai Sekai Made / Aoi Ito” coming out on May 26th. Their site can be found at rayflower.jp. Do check out this Tokyograph article for more info. What the article doesn’t mention though is that the anime in question is of the “boys love” variety. Just thought I’d mention that. There’s a preview out that doesn’t sound half bad!

Pretty excited about this, actually, as Yuki’s been my favorite member to follow after Aucifer. While I’m not the biggest fan of DUSTAR-3 I can’t lie about occasionally bursting into “Mckeekee” on my guitar every once in a while, and Acid Black Cherry, yasu’s (Janne da Arc) solo project where Yuki plays support guitar, is just great. If you haven’t checked them out yet, what better time to do so than right now? Try not to mind the crossdressing at the start too much — unless that’s your thing, of course.

Speaking of DUSTAR-3, they have a new album called TRIKE coming out on April 28th. Looking forward to hearing Yuki’s soloing! Oh, and this reminds me: if anyone wants to sponsor me with Yuki’s bitching custom ESP Lizard Special guitar, I’d be pretty happy about that.

On a completely unrelated note, I’d like to share a quick piece of Atsuro news. Well, it’s not so much news as it’s just “a quick Atsuro spotting“. Atsuro’s played guitar for several names that I’m a fan of (Hello! Project, Shokotan, etc.) but this is one I wasn’t aware of before. I was watching the Kouhaku 2003 show the other day and look who was playing guitar for aiko of all people:

I’m unsure if he’s featured on any of her recordings but it’s probably safe to assume he’s just played in her live band before. In any case, this is cool for me as I’ve been seriously getting into aiko lately. Another artist I’d highly recommend to anyone, by the way.

Thanks to GN-0015 for letting me know about Rayflower!
