Let the rehearsals begin!

The countdown for Λucifer’s revival has started!!
All the tickets even to the additional show are already sold out.
Their schedule looks like this.

8/25 (Wednesday) Osaka Shinsaibashi CLUB QUATTRO
8/26 (Thursday) Nagoya ELL
8/31 (Tuesday) Akasaka BLITZ
9/1 (Wednesday) Akasaka BLITZ (additional performance)

I’m gonna go see them, too!
Everyone who was lucky enough to get a ticket, let’s meet at the venue!

Λucifer’s members are now in the midst of rehearsals.
The staff from the old days are back, too.
They must be having a good time working together.
The concert staff, who in those days often helped me out a lot when I was running around at Λucifer’s shows, mailed me about the state of the rehearsals.
Little by little the feeling of “Ah, so they really will reunite~” started to come about.

Some of the members are on twitter, so definitely follow them and read about their thoughts and latest happenings at the rehearsals!

Λucifer 10th Anniversary Live Tour

The tour limited to just a couple of shows is finally starting tomorrow!!!!!

I’m nervous as this time it’s different from the usual when I’m just a supporting guitarist.
This time it’ll be from the standpoint of an artist.

Let’s give it our all~!” (as Makoto used to always say)

We’ve rehearsed a lot and done a lot in preparation for the live, so everyone please enjoy yourselves! I’m gonna have a lot of fun, too.
The concept is that of a huge class reunion.

10 years since the debut, 7 years since the break-up, we get to do this even though it’s a band with only around 3 and a half years of activity. It makes you realize music really is a wonderful thing. I really think it’s great.

It was my birthday yesterday.
Thank you all for the messages!!!!!
I was going through them on twitter☆ (that I’m strangely enough still using~)

10 years ago yesterday was Λucifer’s first time at Budokan.
10 years ago I would’ve never thought I’d be rehearsing with the same members today…
Music really is a wonderful thing eh. (My second time saying that…)
And about the possibility of there being more than just these couple of lives…
though I don’t like needlessly dwelling on future plans…
Will the next one be 5 years from now… or 10 years from now… or will there be no more after this…
First let’s just concentrate on this live!

The edition of Happy Music I recorded a while ago airs this week on 8/27 (Friday) at around 1:43 AM.
Definitely check it out.

  • The last rehearsal ended now. Looks like it’ll be a good live♪ First up, everyone at Osaka and Nagoya, wait for us~☆ — 9:34 PM Aug 23rd
  • 6th day of Big Macs!! I guess I won’t have enough free time tomorrow to eat one… (Note: playing shows never stopped Λucifer from having burgers in the anime! 😉 ) — 12:32 PM Aug 24th
  • I have some work that really needs to get done but to escape from reality a little, I’m playing squash now. That aside, it’s hot today too (>_<) On a day like this, delicious curry would be… — 3:59 PM Aug 24th
  • Having curry now!!!! Half & half ♪( ´▽`) (picture) — 7:20 PM Aug 24th
  • On break from work now and — in a rare turn of events — updating my homepage. — 10:49 PM Aug 24th

Selection of Yuki’s tweets 2010/08/22-24

  • Last day of rehearsals. If I don’t get everything sorted in my head… — 1:21 PM Aug 23rd
  • We played through everything twice at the Λucifer rehearsal. Since it’s been 7 years, I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of an ensemble it’ll turn out to be. If possible, I’d like to play with this kind of feeling at the live. Having experienced a lot and met a lot of people during these 7 years, I want to express those feelings of gratitude! — 1:10 AM Aug 24th

Updates about the 10th Anniversary tour

OK, the tour is just 4 days away, and here are some pictures of the rehearsal:

A new section about tour goods is also added, so you can do some fanboy/girling with even higher spirit with the official tour t-shirts, key chains, caps and lots of other stuffs. You can get those things here. Would you mind to buy me some of em? 8)

More on the Thai concert

As previously talked about, it seems that the Aucifer reunion tour will culminate with their second ever live performance outside Japan, at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok, Thailand on September 25th. If you live in Japan (and are rich!), you can also get yourself a pretty cool three-day deal that involves flights to Thailand and back, hotel accommodations, a fan meeting with the band and of course a ticket to their concert there. If you’re interested, you’ll need to check out this (or the Google translation.)

In the mean time, it looks like they held some kind of a press event for the upcoming concert in Thailand. Here’s some pictures from said event. I’m assuming the guy is the organizer.

More pictures here. They also had this video from Makoto to show at the event:

(Greetings in Thai)
Long time, no see.
I, Makoto, and the five of us in Aucifer came out to Thailand and did a concert a full eight years ago.
It’s been eight years already… everyone’s respectively become an old geezer and gotten nice and fat.
Now the five of us have gotten together again and we’re going to play at the Impact Hall where we played last time, too. (
Note: does he really say that, or are my ears just failing me today? Impact Hall is not where they’re playing this time. Dammit, Makoto, stop mumbling you sexy man!)
After a long time we’re going to put up an exciting show again, so definitely come check us out!
It’s been ten years already (
Note: since the formation), and the last time was eight years ago…
Back then we were all young guys. We’re definitely more grown up now.
Yeah, we’ve become old geezers… “old geezer”… (laughs) I’ll have to ask someone how you say that in Thai.
I’m looking forward to presenting you with a pleasantly fatter Aucifer!
So, until we’re doing our show in Thailand on September 25th, do look forward to it!
This was Makoto.
(Goodbyes in Thai)

Λucifer’s second live in Bangkok announced

Good news to those who live in South East Asia (including me :D), Λucifer are going to perform a live show in Bangkok for the second time in their career. Remember the first and the last time they performed outside Japan? Seems like they are reviving the old memories back!!

The live will be held on September 25th at the Indoor Stadium Huamark. A Thai-language site for the concert can be found at lucifer10thliveinbkk.com.

Additional show for Λucifer

For those of you not in the know yet, Λucifer have scheduled an additional show to their previously reported tour. The fourth show is set for 09/01 at the Akasaka BLITZ, Tokyo where they’re also playing the preceding night.

On a sidenote, I’d just like to say that I hate anyone and everyone who’s going. Alright, alright, I don’t hate you, but I do want to go. Anyone care to sponsor me the flights to there and back? Fingers crossed for at least that live DVD recording!

In other news that were deemed too minor to write up on their own:

  • Yuki‘s band DUSTAR-3 released a new album on 04/28 called Trike.
  • Check out the new design on Makoto‘s site.
  • Also check out this cool little promo for Aucifer’s tour from TNB’s site.
  • Aucifer’s site now also has little congratulatory messages written by various people such as Kaikan Phrase creator Shinjo Mayu, cool actor Hiroshi Tamaki, and musicians of MUCC, 12012, kannivalism, BREAKERZ and SHUSE. Nothing too exciting, but here’s the Google translation.
  • Makoto was a guest on Towa‘s net radio show on April 20th. I managed to record it for you but I’m not going to attempt a translation right now. Be warned though that due to my internet connection being an asshole, this recording cuts off at around 1:15 and at 13:55 — in total there’s perhaps around 30 seconds of the show missing. That’s the best I could do, sorry. Still, it’s a good opportunity to hear Makoto’s voice again after a while. Here it is:

Finally, an unrelated picture of Atsuro taking a picture of himself in admiration. Or disgust. Not sure.

Λucifer site is live

As you can see, the site is finally up. A couple of minutes early, might I add! I was waiting for the countdown timer to get down to zero just for the hell of it, but it opened around five minutes early. Boo!

The main news here is that they’ve announced the Rinne (“Death and Rebirth“) 10th Anniversary Live Tour consisting (so far?) of three shows:

08/25 @ Shinsaibashi CLUB QUATTRO, Osaka
08/26 @ E.L.L., Nagoya
08/31 @ Akasaka BLITZ, Tokyo

Tickets to all shows can be bought here and are priced ¥6,300 (~$68).

After you’re done with your refresher course on the members’ blood types, there’s a contact form that encourages you to send messages of support to the band. It’s simple enough to figure out, but for the nihongo-challenged, here’s how you send in your message:

Finally, a tidbit from Towa‘s blog:

Aucifer were on today’s Sponichi with a brief history and notice of their reunion, including a quote from Makoto saying he wants to stand on stage again and get together with the members as well as the fans. As for the fingers, that’d be Makoto and Towa. I’m guessing Makoto’s are the girly ones. Those two will be on net radio livecast today from 11 P.M. Japan time, so be sure to tune in if you can.

That’d be all for now. Lastly, look at this bitchin’ promo picture!

Rayflower, Yuki’s new band

Wow! Looking pretty emo there huh, Yuki?

As if the Aucifer news wasn’t good enough, it was also recently reported that Yuki is in a new band called Rayflower who have a double A-side single titled “Uragiri no Nai Sekai Made / Aoi Ito” coming out on May 26th. Their site can be found at rayflower.jp. Do check out this Tokyograph article for more info. What the article doesn’t mention though is that the anime in question is of the “boys love” variety. Just thought I’d mention that. There’s a preview out that doesn’t sound half bad!

Pretty excited about this, actually, as Yuki’s been my favorite member to follow after Aucifer. While I’m not the biggest fan of DUSTAR-3 I can’t lie about occasionally bursting into “Mckeekee” on my guitar every once in a while, and Acid Black Cherry, yasu’s (Janne da Arc) solo project where Yuki plays support guitar, is just great. If you haven’t checked them out yet, what better time to do so than right now? Try not to mind the crossdressing at the start too much — unless that’s your thing, of course.

Speaking of DUSTAR-3, they have a new album called TRIKE coming out on April 28th. Looking forward to hearing Yuki’s soloing! Oh, and this reminds me: if anyone wants to sponsor me with Yuki’s bitching custom ESP Lizard Special guitar, I’d be pretty happy about that.

On a completely unrelated note, I’d like to share a quick piece of Atsuro news. Well, it’s not so much news as it’s just “a quick Atsuro spotting“. Atsuro’s played guitar for several names that I’m a fan of (Hello! Project, Shokotan, etc.) but this is one I wasn’t aware of before. I was watching the Kouhaku 2003 show the other day and look who was playing guitar for aiko of all people:

I’m unsure if he’s featured on any of her recordings but it’s probably safe to assume he’s just played in her live band before. In any case, this is cool for me as I’ve been seriously getting into aiko lately. Another artist I’d highly recommend to anyone, by the way.

Thanks to GN-0015 for letting me know about Rayflower!

Λucifer (really) are back!

Things were looking grim after my last post, but I’m very glad to have been proven wrong!

Aucifer now has a new site that promises to open in a bit over a week from now, on April 20th. For now, the site has links to the members’ respective sites. Looking pretty snazzy! There’s also a mobile version.

Here’s a portion of Mayu Shinjo‘s announcement:

Aucifer 10th anniversary
Finally, they’ve announced it!
I already wrote about it in a previous blog, but as their website was in preparation and none of the members posted any official statement, a lot of fans must’ve thought “is it for real?”
However, after lots of fine-tuning, their site is up.
This time, I can announce it loud and clear:
For a limited time, Aucifer are back!

On a related note, and this might just be entirely my imagination (or my limited Japanese skill), but Mayu might be hinting at some possible upcoming Kaikan Phrase activity. Whether she means another game, the manga or even — dare I say it?! — more anime, I know not. But again, this could just be nothing, so take this bit with a grain of salt.

Atsuro, Towa and Santa also posted messages about this on their blogs, all basically just throwing the announcement out there and saying they’re looking forward to it. However, there is one thing of importance all of them seem to be saying. I’m sorry to say this to all those hoping for new Aucifer songs (me included!), but for now it appears that it’s going to be a live reunion in nature. I’m hoping they change their minds because while I’d love to go catch them live, I don’t see that happening.

Ah well,  if nothing else, we can at least hope for a live DVD, right? According to Towa’s blog, their rehearsals have already begun. Behold, this is where the magic (supposedly) happens:

Lastly, TNB Entertainment has also posted an apology on their site, basically saying they’re sorry for the wait. I don’t know about you guys, but considering the nature of the news they’ve just given us, I’m alright with forgiving them!
