「Onryumon starting any minute now」
Today 9mm is appearing not only on radio, but also on Fuji TV’s Onryumon (and next week too, actually). According to rumors, they’re going to show live clips. I’m going to watch it as it airs, too.

「MJ (today) and RD (tomorrow)」
Well then everyone, I wonder if you all watched MJ? 9mm only had a musical performance featured, but it doesn’t matter. It’s enough that our new song got aired. I think it’s awesome all the AKB48 fans got to see us. Lately, you hear a lot about people supposedly losing interesting in music, losing interest in rock and how CD’s don’t sell as much these days and so on. I think that just means those people are now interested in something else, doesn’t it? The people who’d up until now been captivated by rock, I wonder what they’re into in 2011. Is it maybe jazz or hip hop, maybe architecture or volunteer work, or possibly even cooking or politics or comedy? There should be some in the line of writing haiku about idols, railroads and calligraphy, too. Within that group, I expect that some get really excited about 9mm’s songs. At least one or two people.
That’s what I think. And if they come to our shows, then that’s even more awesome. That’s where it all starts, they’ve come somewhere where they found something they think is as awesome as jazz, hip hop and so on. Tomorrow we have a radio appearance scheduled, “RADIO DRAGON” on TOKYO FM. Check it!
Picture: Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl is supposed to have the same guitar as someone called Trini Lopez, I wonder if it’s this person? It’s from this crumpled up English-language newspaper I discovered.

「Download recommendation」
“Atarashii Hikari” has been released. Just to check that they hadn’t forgotten about it or anything, the four of us went to a CD shop and it was properly on sale as scheduled. The shop we went to, they had it really standing out on display everywhere. We saw someone who had just given it a trial listen and was lining up at the cash register. When we asked him about it, he said he doesn’t really know the band all that well. Splendid. “Be sure to download the live recording, too!“, we told him. In any case, the CD went on sale as planned. Thank you to everyone who got a copy. I want you to play it to your friends, siblings and parents, too. I say this every time, but I want lots of people to hear it. Don’t forget to download the live recording, too, as it was a terrific show. It’s the one we played at the Super Arena last year, which means Yokohama Arena should be even more awesome as we’ve naturally grown as a band after making the new album. Well then, see you later. We’re featured on tonight’s edition of Specha on Space Shower TV, so make sure to watch it!!
The picture’s from yesterday when we did a live radio broadcast in Yokohama. You can see my reflection.

「The day before the release of Atarashii Hikari」
Did everyone listen to School of Lock? How was our new song? We’ll become regulars on there again, so please do give our show a listen. Today we did a photo shoot for Ongaku to Hito at a late night Tokyo. The people walking down the road were mostly surprised to see us as they walked by, but I think around 10% of the people there were just looking at us like “I wonder who those guys are?” But you know, it’s exactly because they don’t know us yet that I want those people to hear “Movement” and come see us at Yokohama Arena. Aside from the photo shoot, we also did lots of interviews for other magazines and free newspapers today, so if you see them around, you should be able to get ahold of a copy. We’re really talking a lot lately, seriously. This all reminds me, it seems this month’s issue of Ongaku to Hito had my name pop up in THE BACK HORN’s Matsuda’s serial… moreover, I hear they’re having an event at LOFT PLUS ONE tomorrow, aren’t they? Just wanted to advertise it. Me, I won’t be going, but I hear it’s going to be huge comeback for them, so yeah.
Right then! The day’s turned to the 17th which means “Atarashii Hikari” goes on sale tomorrow! It’s finally coming out~.

「Rice collecting」

Last month, Tactics Records carried out their Epic Candy War Campaign. This time, they’re collecting rice and sending it to the disaster areas! We, too, are taking part. Rice riot!

「in Fukuoka」
It’s been exactly two months today, hasn’t it? I’m in Fukuoka right now and I think we’ll be driving somewhere at 2 o’clock, but I’ll pray in the car.

「Heading West」
You’ll get more photoshoot pictures from the staff later. Anyway, for some reason 9mm is in Hiroshima today. Looks like it might rain. It feels like it’s going to be a good day.

「Holidays」
Golden Week was a time of homecoming for us members as we all visited our hometowns.
I came back to Tokyo before the holidays ended (it seems there are people out there who don’t get anywhere near ten consecutive days off… today’s not even a national holiday), so I attended the HIBIKI ROCK FEST at Shinkiba Studio Coast. It was my first time seeing a three-piece POLYSICS as well as te’ after matsuda joined the band. After their shows, I went over to stand at the Zankyo Records charity goods table for a little while. Thank you to those of you who bought from me even though the event was still on-going. Selling charity goods like this isn’t much and it’s not just about donating money. There’s plenty of things you can do, so let’s help as much as we can. Right now would be a good time to buy things made in the Tohoku area. They have delicious alcohol and a heap of other things you can buy.
Today it’s rehearsals again (during my short tenure as a salesboy, I got a lot of people telling me they’d be attending our Arena show which made me really happy). We’re also continuing on with the magazine rush we started before the holidays. Next week we’ll be appearing on I-don’t-know-how-many live radio broadcasts. Please wait for more info. Cheers.

「Atarashii Yokohama」
So fast! It seriously feels like this day arrived in a blink.
Tomorrow the tickets for our solo show at Yokohama Arena, “Movement YOKOHAMA”, will go on sale to the general public.
Though I haven’t seem them myself yet, it seems like they have huge posters for it on display in Shibuya and Shinjuku. I wonder how they look. If they’ve scribbled graffiti or stuff on our cool picture, I think it’ll turn out even better in many ways. You might as well make them funnier if you feel the need to, but take care not to scribble on the information about our new single and the Arena show eh. My worrying about this is completely unnecessary ain’t it?
What the band is presenting to you is an arena filled with music. You, our dear fan, or the people who haven’t even heard 9mm’s music once, or the people who just heard a snippet of one of our songs, or the people who have never been to a concert in their lives, of course we’re warmly welcoming you all as the 9mm team has prepared a place where lots and lots of people can get together. I’d really want you to come and see us. Like all of you, we too are looking forward to it. Well then, let’s meet at Yokohama Arena.

I think I’ll write something about the three shows I played last week.
On the 12th I took part in a TRICERATOPS event. The four of us performed the song I contributed to on the album, as well as a song by Kiyoshiro Imawano. I feel very fortunate for having gotten the privilege to perform with those three. I also got the rare chance to play a pretty long solo during our jam.
Then on the weekend, we played Saitama Super Arena and Hibiya Kokaido. On one side, SKULLSHIT was to a large extent a gathering of close friends performing on stage, whereas Zanzibar Night was in many ways a combination you won’t see again, being a two days full of admiring others’ performances. There was rock, pro wrestling, comedians, idols… well, rather than an event, it feels more appropriate calling it a display of the whole spectrum of show business. (lol)
I was thinking this same thing during our secret tour. Regardless of the venue you’re playing or what the atmosphere there is like, when you just simply perform music (or pro wrestling, or comedy, or idols, since we had basically everything aside from acting up on the stage)… how should I put it? I can’t find the right word for it but it’s like, these kind of unusual line-ups we had this time, I felt like people were really wanting to see something like that.
I got this kind of friendly vibe from the people up on stage, too. I’m talking to different people about what to do in the the situation we’re in right now, but first of all I should be doing what I can myself, as much as I can.
Though it felt like I spent these past two weeks in concert, from here on we’ll again be preparing for Yokohama Arena. We had a meeting yesterday, too, about things like how many songs we’re going to do, or if we’re going to bring out any special instruments on stage or not, or what we’re going to do with the lighting and the goods. Little by little we’re finishing up our plan. Next month as “Atarashii Hikari” goes on sale, I think we’ll be appearing on TV, radio and magazines a lot, so I hope you do check us out. That reminds me, it seems the tickets for the Arena go on sale this week. So fast!
